Sacred Contracts & Destiny vs. Free Will

We are all guided by contracts that our souls made before we were born into this lifetime; contracts that we planned in pre-birth planning sessions with our spirit guides.  These contracts and our lives encompass and include a vast amount of people, places, situations, beliefs, talents, challenges and perhaps even illnesses or handicaps that we are to meet and interact with.  All of this is designed to teach us about our use and misuse of personal power and to help us along our path to self-empowerment and congruency. 

In his books "Journey of Souls" & "Destiny of Souls, Evidence of Life between Lives", Michael Newton, a hypnotherapist who has worked with subjects in deep states, has many accounts of the Akashic Record, or Book of Life.  In the planning of the life we are about to live, we go to a library of sorts and view the pages associated with the life we are considering.  The non-profit organization called Humanity Healing Network (www.humanityhealing.net) has put together a wonderful short video about The Akashic Records:

While there may be specific points and experiences along the course of our lives that we must experience, we have free will and can change our path as well as the events and outcomes.  This free will can find us making empowered choices that can continue to further our growth but give our lives an additional and interesting flavor or speed things along.  

These "free will" choices can also derail us from our original path of learning in sometimes very challenging ways, creating a learning line in a very different and often disempowering direction.  When this happens, we aren't "failing" our contract or our planned life, although it can certainly feel like that. What we will get out of this temporary derailment is greater learning and compassion along with our bumps and bruises.  And I say "temporary" because we will always get back on track.  Those lessons and challenges that we pre-planned will continue to present themselves to us in many different forms until we are fully aware of them and their power upon us and those that we travel with.  When we aware of our contracts and have developed our intuition and ability to consistently empower ourselves, we can discern when we have derailed our intended path and can make choices to again serve our highest power/self. 

As the soul prepares for a life with the intent of learning a particular lesson or satisfying a karmic debt, the soul will also choose a family and a body that will help them with the lessons for this incarnation. For many, some of those images survive our drinking from the river of forgetfulness and thus become our intuition that serves us during our lives.

Each one of us is involved with people that animate us - both on an empowered and a shadow side.  Who are the people in your life in these roles?  These are people that challenge you and where it feels and appears like they are trying to keep you from following your highest potential?  The Buddhist philosophy calls these people Noble Friends.  Sometimes they are known as Soul Mates.  As much as you have sacred contracts with people, others have contracts with you.  There are people that are under their own contract to challenge you, to not approve of you, or to not make things easy on you - that's part of the contract and your own lesson of self-empowerment.  And it works both ways.  You are under contract to not acknowledge or approve or others.  Even in pain and despair, sacred contracts are perfect on both sides of the equation.
